毕业于北京协和医学院（8年制），1993年获得伦敦大学癌症研究博士学位后继续从事癌症研究。目前在Imperial College London担任PI (Senior Lecturer), 领导实验室研究人胚胎干细胞及其他细胞模型，着重于人胚胎干细胞的定向分化，并以此为细胞模型研究信号传导通路间相互作用的分子基础和其对细胞分化、代谢及功能的影响。
